Bearded Dragon Lighting

Bearded dragon lighting, or more specific ultraviolet lighting, can be in the form of fluorescent tubes, Compact fluorescent lamps, mercury vapour flood lamps and spot lamps.

Bearded Dragon Lighting Fittings

Fluorescent lighting needs fluorescent type fittings. Make sure to match the wattage on both the fitting and the light tube. Larger tubes have higher Watt requirements and fluorescent tube fittings will have an indication of the Watt range it is intended for. Fluorescent fittings can either be mounted permanently on the inside of the enclosure or placed on top a a wire mesh lid.

Bearded Dragon Lighting Equipment

Any form of lighting can be connected to an automated timer to keep the day and night times constant and more natural.

Bearded Dragon Lighting Requirements

• The UV light source should be mounted or placed within 30 cm / 12 " from the main basking area to emit enough lighting.

• The Bearded dragon lighting source should emit the entire length of the enclosure.

TIP: By using a fluorescent reflector screen more lighting rays will be emitted.

Bearded Dragon Lights Availability

Commercial Bearded dragon lighting is available form specialized reptile related pet shops. Always keep the slip and always insist on testing the light source before taking it home. A less desired (due to fragility of glass containing products), but sometimes last resort is by buying from internet retailers.
