Bearded Dragon Eating
Bearded dragons are normally ferocious eaters. These lizards are
classified as being omnivorous, meaning they eat a variety of
foods, including plants
and live foods.
Baby and adult Bearded dragons sometimes have different eating
habits. Babies are often very cautions when it comes to live
food items, but soon start to catch up after days or weeks not
to disappoint their juvenile and adult counterparts. Although
they are know to to always eat a lot, baby Bearded dragons should
always be interested in moving insects.
It is normal for a healthy juvenile and adult Bearded dragons to
eat a few dozen adults
crickets in one
go! When a Bearded dragons is underfed, i.e. it has a poor body condition
score, ferocious Bearded dragon eating behavior can be an
indication. Adult Bearded dragons sometimes prefer less live
insects over greens
feeding. Adult Bearded dragons are also known to show
somewhat variation in the feeding behavior from one day to the
next. It is normal to have days where they don't want to eat
anything, especially if they had a large meal a day or two
before. This strange Bearded dragon eating behavior can happen
even during the summer months and can be a bit confusing. They
should however be bright and alert and should show their normal
ferocious eating behavior the next day or so. |
