Waxworms are the larvae of one of the two related wax moth species, the Lesser moth (Achroia grisella) or the Greater wax moth (Galleria mellonella). wax moths are natural pests of bee hives used for honey production, but makes great foodstuffs for pet Bearded dragons.

Mealworms are the larval stage of the Darkling beetle (Tenebrio molitor). Like all holometabolic insects, they go through four life stages - egg, larva, pupa and adult. These larvae and beetles should rather be fed as an occasional snack instead of the main insect source to Bearded dragons.

To quarantine is defined as the isolation or keeping separate from others. The quarantine period is the time a new or a sick Bearded dragon should be isolated before it is introduced to, or allowed contact with other Bearded dragons.
